in the public domain; some images may be protected
by the U.S. Copyright Law (Title 17, U.S.C.).

Permission
for Use of Images:
The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service's New Jersey
Field Office web site attempts to use only
images in the public domain.
Public
domain images on this New Jersey Field Office
web site are free for you to copy (as is), download
and use. No permission is required; credit information
with the photo may be used along with the image.
It is not required to credit images produced by
the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, but it is
nice if you do so.
Restrictions
On the Use of Images:
You
may find some copyright restricted images on this
web site or on web sites to which we link. If
there is an image with the name of an individual
and the copyright symbol " ©" rather
than the USFWS (U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service)credit,
this image may be restricted by the owner. U.S.
Fish & Wildlife Service use and the "Agreement
for Use of Non-Service Products (Copyright)"
form places it in the public domain for free use
as it is. A copyrighted image is protected by
federal copyright laws. If you require additional
use of an artist's work or image, it is your responsibility
to obtain permission, copyright agreement and
copies of the work from the artist. The New Jersey
Field Office and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife
Service thank artists for their submission of
works. The use of work does not endorse nor commercially
promote an individual or an artist's business.

Fair
Use Request:
Many artists submit and donate their art work
and images free of cost to the New Jersey Field
Office and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.
Their donations attempt to support programs and
wildlife. Many of these artists request that their
work be subject to "Fair Use,"
in short, that it be "not for profit."
If your use of restricted or copyrighted "©"
images will be a profit-making project, you must
contact the artist who produced the work and reach
your own agreements regarding the copying of images
or obtaining better copies than those on our web
site. Fair use is a courtesy between you and the
producer of the work. What the two of you determine
is not the policy of--nor supported by--the New
Jersey Field Office. The New Jersey Field Office
neither promotes nor supports the business activities
of any artist or profit-making enterprise.
Free
Use of this web site:
Copyrighted "©" images are restricted
by law. Images in the public domain of the United
States are free for your use. You do not have
to ask for permission, but please e-mail the New
Jersey Field Office using the below e-mail link,
or write us. This will enable us to inform the
artist that images are being put to good use.
The New Jersey Field Office appreciates your comments
and your use of this web site, We will gladly
accept contributed art work.
Public
Domain Usage (Copyright) form:
Before the New Jersey Field Office will use non-U.S.
Fish & Wildlife Service or non-U.S. Government
images on this web site, completion of the "Agreement
for Use of Non-Service Products (Copyright)"
form is required. This form must be completed
and signed by the producer ( owner/artist) of
the product we place on this web site Understand
that as an owner/artist, submission of this signed
form allows the US Fish & Wildlife Service
to use your work in the public domain of the United
States.
Placing
Special Agreement Instructions on the Usage (Copyright)
form:
As the owner of an image you must decide if you
wish to restrict how the U.S. Fish & Wildlife
Service and the New Jersey Field Office will use
your product. In the center of the "Agreement
for Use of Non-Service Products (Copyright)"
form is space for your special agreement instructions.
Examples might be " insert the copyright
symbol ©", "no web usage, for print
only", "display and exhibition (framed)
only" or "use on the web at no larger
than 20K as a GIF image with embedded credit"
.... click here to see
a low resolution 20K on the web. In the public
domain a 20K image works on our web site and looks
just fine; if someone copies the image it is limited
in quality because enlargement degrades the image.
Placing only small low resolution images on the
web prevents someone from making high resolution
copies of your work, which can happen when large
images are placed on the web.
How
to submit images (Products) for Our Public Domain
Web Site's Use:
The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service requires
full usage public domain of the product. You must
submit a completed "Agreement for Use of
Non-Service Products (Copyright)" form, signed
and dated with your work. Contact us for details
and further information.
