Volunteers go Wild at MoosehornBuild your resume or just enjoy a productive and rewarding experience. Become a Moosehorn Volunteer!Who May Volunteer?No special skills are needed. Job training is provided, if needed. There is no age limit. Volunteers under 18 need written parental approval. Organized group participation is welcome. Anyone under 16 may want to volunteer as part of a supervised group, such as a Scout troop or 4H Club. Volunteers are welcome regardless of race, religion, age, gender, nationality, or disability. U.S. citizenship is not required.
The amount of time you volunteer is up to you. You may work full-time, a few hours per week or month, or during a particular season.
Friends Group The mission of Friends is to promote the use, understanding, knowledge, growth, development, operation, and management of Moosehorn NWR and the refuge system of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Friends is an independent non-profit organization committed to the programs and activities of Moosehorn NWR to accomplish its goals and objectives for the enhancement of of wildlife populations and their habitats. To get more information about the Friends Group please visit the Friends of Moosehorn website. Summer InternshipsDuring the summer months, several full-time (40 hours/week) positions are available. Volunteers receive a stipend and housing near the refuge headquarters. Public Use AssistantGreet the public and answer visitor questions, lead interpretive and educational programs, assist in planning and staffing special events. Biological AideConduct wildlife observations and species counts, bird banding, and habitat monitoring; collect water and soil samples; assist with habitat maintenance and improvement projects.
