Biography: Marvin Moriarty Regional Director U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service |
Moriarty started working for the Service in 1972 on wetland and water quality restoration in the Delaware and Chesapeake bays. He worked at the Upper Darby River Basin Studies Field Office in Pennsylvania and the Annapolis, Md., field office. From there he went to the Gloucester Point, Va., field office. In 1978, Moriarty began working for ecological services in Washington, D.C., where he was coastal zone management coordinator, then program coordinator for program development staff, and finally branch chief of permits and licenses. Moriarty went to Atlanta, Ga., in 1982 as the assistant regional director for enhancement, but he returned to Washington the following year to become division chief of ecological services. Moriarty became chief of endangered species in Washington in 1986, followed by a year as deputy assistant director of fish and wildlife enhancement. In 1988 he moved to Minneapolis for the deputy regional director job. Previously, Moriarty served in the U.S. Marine Corps and the Marine Corps Reserve. Moriarty holds a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from St. Joseph’s College in Philadelphia. He was born in Springfield, Vt. Moriarty makes his home in Amherst, Mass. |
