HACCP Planning
(Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points)
HACCP principles provide a framework to help reduce the spread of non-target and invasive species from one location to another during routine activities like stocking, movement of livestock, or baitfish collection. Since 2003, the LGLFRO has conducted HACCP workshops and presentations in New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, Virginia, and Connecticut. These have resulted in the training of many state, federal, tribal, and private aquaculture and natural resource professionals. In 2007, the LGLFRO will be holding workshops in Augusta, ME (April 10) and Philadelphia, PA (May 24-25). The ANS program coordinator will also continue to provide, as needed, technical assistance to Service and state offices developing HACCP plans in the northeast.
