Seatuck National Wildlife Refuge

This 196-acre refuge consists of grasslands, woodlands, and salt and freshwater marshes bordering Champlin Creek and Great South Bay, in Islip, New York. Over 200 species of birds have been documented at Seatuck. White-tailed deer and red fox are also common inhabitants.

Seatuck is maintained for habitat diversity and actively managed for migratory birds, such as nesting osprey and purple martins, migrating raptors, waterfowl, and shorebirds.

The Long Island National Wildlife Refuge Complex is seeking volunteers to help control purple foxglove at Seatuck National Wildlife Refuge. Volunteers will assist with hand-pulling this invasive plant to help prevent its spread on the Refuge. Thursday, May 3, 10, 17 & 31 and Friday, May 25.
