Seatuck National Wildlife Refuge*
This 196-acre Refuge consists of grasslands, woodlands, and salt and freshwater marshes bordering Champlin Creek and Great South Bay, in Islip, NY. Over 200 species of birds have been documented at the Refuge while white-tailed deer and red fox are common inhabitants. Seatuck is actively managed for migratory birds, particularly for nesting osprey and waterbirds, and to maintain habitat diversity. *Open to select public use activities (e.g., biological research, environmental education) by Special Use Permit.
