Albany is strategically located along two major interstate highways and is approximately 170 miles west of Boston, 155 miles north of New York City and 225 miles south of Montreal. Albany is also the state capital and is the site of the New York Department of Environmental Conservation headquarters. The Albany office is responsible for enforcement of Federal wildlife laws and regulations in twenty eight counties, which includes the Adirondack Mountains and Park, the Catskill Mountains and Park and the Hudson River Valley

Agents conduct investigations into a variety of violations including violations of the Endangered Species Act, the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and the Lacey Act. The Albany office also supports the wildlife inspection program located in Champlain, New York.
