Bat Surveys

Baseline data on bat species are being collected for the refuge through mist net surveys. Fine mesh nets called mist nets are set up at night time. The observer remains on location and when a bat flies into the net, the species is recorded and the bat is released. The most common bat species captured are little brown bats and northern long-eared bats.
