SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY-ENROLLEE
POSITION: YOUTH CONSERVATION CORPS (YCC)
ENROLLEE (4 POSITIONS)
WHERE: U.S. FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE
Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, Suffolk, Virginia
(The Selectees will be employees of the program partner, Suffolk Parks and Recreation)
TOUR: Full-time (40 hours per week) Summer employment, Monday through Friday. Start date of July 29, 2009- through , up to, September 4, 2009 (dependent upon school schedule).
SALARY: $7.50 per hour
DUTIES: Natural Resource conservation protection, and enhancement projects. Duties are performed outdoors, in all types of weather conditions.
REQUIRED: An interest in outdoor work. Ability to use common hand tools and to perform arduous physical labor. Must be between 15 and 18 years of age for the duration of the program, and have parental approval. Must have transportation to the work site in Suffolk, VA. Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident. Must have a social security card. Selectees 15 years of age will need a work permit, permit application provided by City of Suffolk.
SELECTION: Selection will be on a random basis from the pool of all eligible applicants. Depending on the applicant mix, an equal number of male and female enrollees will be selected. Those not initially selected will remain on an alternate candidate list, should vacancies occur during the program. Selections will be made and applicants notified by July 24, 2009, close of business.

DUTIES: Lead a crew of four to six, 15-18 year old youth to complete natural resource conservation protection, and enhancement projects. Duties are performed outdoors, in all types of weather conditions.
REQUIRED: An interest in outdoor work. Ability to use common hand tools and to perform arduous physical labor. Must be 18 years of age or older for the duration of the program. Must have transportation to the work site in Suffolk, VA. Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident. Must have a social security card and a valid drivers license.
