It does not necessarily constitute an endorsement by the USFWS or the US Government. We would be glad to link to any site that provides low cost or no cost software that can help people use our data.
WinZip is a compression utility that handles gzip files. The evaluation version is available from this site and can be used to uncompress .gz files before running them through the Import Utility.

ArcExplorer is a free viewer for ArcInfo coverages and shapefiles. Be sure to download the ArcExplorer version 1.1 Import Utility. Use it to convert the .e00 files into ArcInfo coverages which can then be used in ArcExplorer.
