Map
Brigantine Division hunt units will be open to the hunting of migratory waterfowl, rails, coots and moorhens subject to current State and Federal regulations and seasons (for NJ Coastal Hunt Zone) and the following special regulations and provisions.
1. Hunters must possess valid license and signed Federal/State Duck stamps. All waterfowl hunters must have a 2006/2007 NJ HIP number written on their license.
2. All hunters (including rail, coot and moorhen hunters) must use or possess only approved nontoxic shot.
3. Hunters may not use or possess more than 50 shotshells per day in Hunting Unit 1.
4. All hunting blind materials, boats and decoys must be removed at the end of each hunting day. Permanent and pit blinds are not permitted.
5. No foot access. Access is by boat only.
6. No units shall be occupied before 4:00 am. No camping allowed.
7. The distribution of bait and/or the hunting over bait is prohibited.
8. Boating laws are strictly enforced. Hunters are responsible for complying with all applicable boating regulations. Tides and weather are important factors to consider to avoid becoming stranded and exposed to low temperatures until tides change and/or winds subside.
9. Use or possession of alcoholic beverages while hunting is prohibited.
HUNTER TIPS
Check to be sure that you have a valid license and your gun is capable of holding no more than 3 shells before you hunt. Each waterfowl hunter 16 years of age and over must carry on his person a valid Federal Duck Stamp and New Jersey Waterfowl Stamp signed in ink across the face of the stamps. All waterfowl hunters must have a 2006/2007 NJ HIP number written on their license.
All Refuge Hunting Units are bounded by green refuge "Public Hunting Area" signs.
Units 1, 3, 4 and 5 are accessible during all tides. During low tide, caution is necessary from Landing Creek to Hammock Cove and in feeder creeks. Hunters not familiar with the area should enter at low tide and return at high tide.
Unit 2 is accessible only during half or higher tides.
Sky busting results in crippled birds and spoils both your hunting and that of others.
The use of trained retrieving dogs reduces crippling loss and is encouraged.
The Refuge public boat landing is located at Scotts Landing Road off Leeds Point Road (open 4:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.).
Other public boat landings are located on Faunce Landing Road, Absecon. Private boat ramps are available at Chestnut Neck, Motts Creek and Brigantine Island.
