Being
a senior citizen today simply means we are entering another stage of life - one
filled with more time to do the things we’ve dreamed of doing:
Travel • Hobbies • Making new friends • Community involvement
Are you a senior citizen who loves a challenge, wants to expand your knowledge, and have an active involvement in protecting and caring for our environment for present and future generations?
Here’s a great opportunity to do just that!
Forsythe NWR’s volunteers assist biologists, staff visitor centers, guide tours, present slide programs, and maintain trails and facilities. Projects include conducting biological surveys, providing clerical assistance in the office, photography and art work, habitat restoration activities, and environmental education just to name a few. Equipment and transportation is provided for all work, and on the job accident insurance is provided through workmen’s compensation.
Although volunteers are most needed during the spring and fall, when Refuge visitation is the heaviest due to waterfowl migration, positions are available year-round.
WHY NOT HAVE A WILD EXPERIENCE STARTING TODAY! Here's just a few ways ...
operate the bookstore;
participate in wildlife
surveys;
take part in special projects
and events;
perform clerical and
administrative duties;
help plan and care for our
Wildflower Garden;
meet and greet visitors and
provide information;
lead tours and provide
interpretation to the visiting public;
work with computers and other
technical equipment;
photograph a variety of
natural resources;
represent the Refuge at
community functions;
develop environmental
education materials;
assist with teacher workshops;
maintain trails.
How to apply:
