Wade Jodun, construction project manager for the Fisheries Resources Program, was named the Technical and Scientific Professional Employee of the Year by the Federal Executive Association of Western Massachusetts at the 7th annual Excellence in Government Awards presented on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, in Holyoke. This awards program honors the "best of the best" in local federal, postal or military service in western Massachusetts.

Jodun was selected as winner in his category by an independent Blue Ribbon panel composed of business, industry, non-profit and academia professionals along with the Federal Executive Association of Western Massachusetts Board of Directors. The award acknowledges Jodun's contributions as the primary point of contact for all construction and maintenance projects for the regional National Fish Hatchery System's $200 million in facilities assets. This past year, in addition to administering the annual maintenance and construction budgets for the Fisheries Program, Jodun served as the program's American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project manager. This included oversight and management of 45 ARRA maintenance and construction projects with a budget totaling $5.7 million dollars. Under Jodun's guidance, the Fisheries Program was able to complete the technical specifications and bid documents on all projects within the time-sensitive deadlines associated with ARRA reporting.

Federal Executive Association of Western Massachusetts awards are presented primarily in recognition of exemplary job performance, meritorious honor, remarkable contributions and outstanding coordination of federal, postal, military service and community programs. This cycle of awards is based on accomplishments achieved during the period from October 1, 2008 to the present. The criteria for the Technical and Scientific Professional Employee award included how performance exceeded expectations, improved organizational efficiency, and had an impact on customers and the organization.

The Federal Executive Association of Western Massachusetts is an association of more than 25 federal agencies that have joined together to underscore the federal government's commitment to serving the people of western Massachusetts.
