Interjurisdictional Fisheries
Because of their wide geographic distribution or migratory patterns, many fish populations from freshwater, coastal, or marine areas are managed by two or more states, nations, or tribal governments. We work with our partners to restore and manage these populations.
Self-sustaining populations of freshwater, coastal and anadromous fish (fish that reproduce in fresh water and mature in the ocean) indicate healthy ecosystems and provide recreational and commercial benefits. In the Northeast Region, we use the latest science to restore Atlantic salmon, striped bass, American shad, river herring, Atlantic sturgeon, Amercian eel, and other interjurisdictional fish species.
