Interior Secretary Announces $170 Million to Northeast State Wildlife Agencies from Excise Taxes on Anglers, Hunters, and Boaters


$1.1 billion distributed to state and territorial fish and wildlife agencies nationwide

Interior Secretary Sally Jewell announced this week the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will distribute more than $170 million to Northeast region state wildlife agencies from excise taxes generated by sportsmen and sportswomen. The money is distributed through the Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration Program and will be used to fund fish and wildlife conservation and recreation projects in each of the 13 states, including hunter education, public boating access and endangered species restoration.
