$4.3 million awarded to northeast region states for clean boating

June 21, 2013: Just in time for the first day of summer, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced yesterday that six states in the northeast region will receive more than $4.3 million under the Clean Vessel Act grant program in 2013.

Clean Vessel Act awards keep our water clean by helping recreational boaters properly dispose of on-board septic waste.

State projects in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey and Vermont will add or improve pump-out boats and stations and educate the public about proper septic disposal along inland and coastal waterways.

Nationally, 23 states received $14.7 million from the program.
