Allegheny National Fish Hatchery realeases first lake trout yearlings in Great Lakes since 2005


It's been seven years since Allegheny Naitonal Fish Hatchery stocked yearling lake trout in the Great Lakes, but this week biologists are releasing 80,000 of them into Lake Erie.

In all, the hatchery will release 200,000 yearlings into Lake Erie before moving on to stock Lake Ontario--quite an accomplishment considering the hatchery was closed for six years due to a fish disease and hatchery repairs.
