Investigation Leads to the Arrest of Narwhal Tusk Smugglers
Interagency efforts have led to the arrests of individuals, including a New Jersey resident, involved in the smuggling of narwhal tusks worth thousands of dollars in the U.S. A narwhal is a medium-sized whale known as "the unicorn of the sea" for its long, spiraling tusk that can grow longer than 8 feet. Narwhals are protected by the Marine Mammal Protection Act and laws related to international trade.
