Wildlife Inspector Damian Martelli while stationed in Iraq

Honoring Our Veterans: Damian Martelli

Damian Martelli began his military career in 1990, joining the U.S. Army and serving in Operation Desert Storm while being stationed in Germany. From 1997 to 2010 Martelli served with the Air National Guard/Air Force Reserve and participated in a number of operations. In September 2011 Martelli became a wildlife inspector with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and currently works in the Office of Law Enforcement in Amherst, NY. “When I joined the Army in 1990 and later the Air Force in 1997, it was awe-inspiring to know I belonged to something great with a long legacy of distinguished service to the United States. The same holds true in my service as a Wildlife Inspector: that I belong to a great organization which performs a unique mission in support of our country,” says Martelli as he reflects positively on these life experiences.
