Assessing After Superstorm Sandy
National wildlife refuges, national fish hatcheries, and other Service field stations from Virginia to Maine experienced heavy winds, rain, flooding, and erosion during Superstorm Sandy. Now that the storm has passed and when conditions are safe, managers will assess damages on the ground. Service personnel are also coordinating with neighboring communities to offer assistance. Many offices remain closed to ensure public safety.
