Sherry Krest, Environmental Contaminants Team Leader
Chesapeake Bay Field Office
Sherry Krest has worked for the Service since 1995 cleaning up hazardous waste sites, restoring injured natural resources and supervising four very talented biologists. Most recently, her time has been split between restoring wetlands in different parts of the country (including North Dakota, South Dakota, Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania); assessing the health of amphibians on National Wildlife Refuges; cleaning up hazardous waste sites; and responding to oil spills, such as the Deepwater Horizon.
Originally from Meadville, Pennsylvania, Krest has always enjoyed the outdoors, but a high school biology teacher inspired her to pursue biology as a career.
Krest received a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, Biology, from Bloomsburg University, Pennsylvania and worked as a middle school teacher before continuing on to receive a Master of Science in Environmental Biology from Hood College, Maryland.
When not at work, Krest enjoys bike riding, hiking, and playing with her new puppy. Of course, a teenage daughter also keeps her very active.
