Christina Kocer, White-Nose Syndrome National Assistant Coordinator

Regional Ecological Services Program

Christina Kocer worked in the Wild Diversity Program of the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection for six years before coming to the Service about a year ago.

As a white-nose syndrome coordinator, Kocer tracks the path of white-nose syndrome, coordinates research, develops protocols and management plans, and responds to public inquiries about white–nose syndrome in America's bats. She also reviews funding proposals from all of the 13 states in the Northeast Region involving bats and white nose.

Kocer is originally from Minnesota. She studied environmental science at University of Dubuque and later went on to receive a master's degree in wildlife ecology from the University of Nebraska.

Kocer grew up loving the outdoors and still spends a lot of her free time hiking and kayaking. She is very passionate about bat conservation and is constantly working to better improve our understanding of infectious diseases like white-nose syndrome and rabies.
