International Migratory Bird Day

Set on the second Saturday in May, International Migratory Bird Day is an invitation to celebrate and support migratory bird conservation.

A festival is held each year on the refuge with activities for families, birders, and nature lovers of all ages. 

Eastern Shore Birding Festival

The annual Eastern Shore Birding Festival takes place on the first weekend after the first Wednesday in October each year.

Tours of Fisherman Island as well as walks at the Eastern Shore of Virginia National Wildlife Refuge are only a small part of this event.

National Wildlife Refuge Week

In celebration of National Wildlife Refuge Week, the refuge offers a variety of activities in conjunction with the Eastern Shore Birding Festival.

Fisherman Island Tours, tours of the refuge, auditorium presentations, and activities for children are all offered during the event.

National Wildlife Refuge Week is sponsored by the National Wildlife Refuge System.
