At the Northeast Region Environmental Contaminants Program
- We work to prevent pollution from harming fish and wildlife and the places
they live — including lands that are managed as refuges.
- We help ensure that U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service lands are purchased
and managed in ways that don't expose fish and wildlife to harmful chemicals
or the Service to legal liability.
- We investigate how pollution in our environment affects fish and wildlife,
and we propose action to lessen the effects.
- We address spills of oil and hazardous chemicals and prevent as much
harm to fish and wildlife as we can, and we recover damages to make things right for harm we can't prevent.
- We work to make sure that cleaning up hazardous waste does not hurt fish and wildlife, and here also we recover damages to make things right for harm we can't prevent.
