A Talk on the Wild Side.
Everyone likes free, right? Today, the Department of the Interior announced the 2012 federal fee free (try saying that three times) days on public lands like National Parks and National Wildlife Refuges.
While many of us are just getting into the autumnal mood, 2012 is right around the corner. It's never too early to start planning that dream family vacation or reflective long weekend in the outdoors.
If you've never been to places like Denali or Acadia, consider a family trip during the week of April 21st. The park Service will be waving entrance fees in honor of National Park Week.
If you only have a weekend and are craving a brief oceanside respite, consider traveling to the Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge Complex from January 14th-16th and November 10th-12th.
As a bonus, many park-related hotels, restaurants, gift shops, and tour operators offer specials on fee free days.
So what are you waiting for?
Here are the other big federal fee free dates that you need to know for 2012. See you outside!
