Nevada Biodiversity Initiative (NBI)
Photo Contest
The Nevada Biodiversity Initiative (NBI) has been sponsoring a photo contest each year since 2000 in an effort to collect images of native species, habitats, and landscapes that tell the story of Nevada.
Each year, NBI asks photographers to submit their photographs. To submit an entry into the contest, photographers must be 18 years of age or submit a release from a parent or guardian. Photos are evaluated on appeal, content and photographic skill.
There are three categories: Native Wildlife, Native Plants, and Nevada Landscapes. Cash awards are given to the first place entry in each category ($50) and to the second place entry in each category ($25). A $10 entry fee is required.
Information about the next photo contest will be posted on the web site along with entry forms.
About NBI: NBI is a partnership among the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), Stanford University’s Center for Conservation Biology, the Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the Nevada Division of Wildlife, the Nevada Natural Heritage Program, and the US Fish & Wildlife Service.
NBI utilizes graduate students, professors, and agency expertise to conduct critical research and assemble data to develop land management actions designed to conserve species and habitat in the state. NBI plays a key role in helping preclude the need to list species, and in conserving Nevada’s biological diversity.
The Photos submitted to NBI are not under copyright protection. They can be used for non-profit publications with permission and must include the artist's name.
