Meet The Nevada Fish & Wildlife Office Field Supervisor

Robert (Bob) Williams

Photo: Bob Williams, NFWO Field SupervisorBob Williams is the Field Supervisor of the US Fish and Wildlife Service, Nevada Fish and Wildlife Office. Bob has a Masters Degree in Fishery and Aquatic Ecology, and Bachelors Degree in Zoology from Brigham Young University. He is a member of the American Fishery Society, the Desert Fishes Council and several other organizations.

Bob manages the Ecological Services and Fisheries program for the Service in the State of Nevada. He supervises a staff of approximately 60 people located in Reno, Las Vegas and at the Lahontan National Fish Hatchery in Gardnerville. The Service’s programs he is responsible for include endangered species, fisheries, environmental contaminants, and Partners in Conservation. Bob and his staff also play an active role in many state water issues that directly affect endangered species and wetland protection. They are involved in the Truckee River Operating Agreement and ground water pumping issues affecting the Virgin and Muddy Rivers in Southern Nevada. Bob is the Service’s lead representative on the Walker Lake Federal Negotiating Team.

Bob has spent most of his career implementing various aspects of the Endangered Species Act. He came to Nevada from Utah in 1997, where he served as State Supervisor for the Service’s Salt Lake City Office. In addition to working with the Service, Bob worked for the Bureau of Reclamation in Salt Lake City from 1982 to 1992. His work with the Bureau focused on endangered species issues related to the operation of Bureau projects on the Colorado River, including Glen Canyon Dam.
