SERVICE FUNDING PURPOSE: To protect, enhance, and restore eroding
and degrading streams and to improve water quality and aquatic habitat
within the Mitchell River Watershed

Outstanding Resource Water in the north-central piedmont.

Improve and protect habitat for the Brook Floater (Alasmidonta
varicosa), a federal species of concern (NC state-listed: threatened).

Improve and protect habitat for the bog turtle (Clemmys muhlenbergii)
- a federal species of concern (NC state-listed: threatened).

Protection of recreational and cultural features along the river.
