Conserving this Nation’s fish and other aquatic resources cannot be successful without the partnership of Tribes; they manage or influence some of the most important aquatic habitats both on and off reservations. In addition, the Federal government and the Service have distinct and unique obligations toward Tribes based on trust responsibility, treaty provisions, and statutory mandates.
Rivers and Tides: Restoring the Nisqually Estuary

Diked and dammed for more than 100 years, the tide is returning to the Nisqually estuary! This video highlights the largest estuary restoration in the Pacific Northwest with dramatic footage.
Nisqually NWR, Ducks Unlimited and the Nisqually Indian Tribe worked tirelessly for more than 12 years with the help of many partners to restore 762 acres of estuary - reconnecting it with the tides of Puget Sound.
