Tribal Visits/Information Sharing:
- Searching for a source of hay or payment for hay for Omaha Tribe’s bison impacted by the Missouri River flooding
- Provided NCTC training vouchers to Ute Mountain Ute, Standing Rock, Assiniboine and Sioux of Fort Peck
- Participated in MRRIC special committee to develop criteria to expand Tribes eligible for inclusion
- Participated in Missouri River Flood Task Force Tribal Engagement Committee
Service Visits/Information Sharing:
- Briefed the DOI and Service Science Integrity Officers about Traditional Ecological Knowledge and discussed how to move forward
- Participating in team to update the national Tribal Liaison Strategic Plan
- Participating in team to provide Region 6 management with options for implementing the DOI Tribal Consultation Policy at the regional level
- Assisting in discussions between the Service and the Paiute Tribe of Utah regarding the Utah Prairie Dog
Tribal Wildlife Grant Program (TWG):
- Helping FY2011 TWG awardees to complete their paperwork to activate their grants

REMINDER: Teaming With Wildlife Fly-in Feb 28-29, 2012, in Washington DC
The purpose of the annual Fly-in is to communicate the importance of the State and Tribal Wildlife Grants program to members of Congress and their staffs. The Fly-in includes training, opportunities to meet with congressional members and/or their staffs, coalition and congressional receptions and awards. This year, as recommended by the AFWA Task Force on Wildlife Diversity Funding, we will be making a special effort to encourage states with members on the House and Senate Interior Appropriations Committees to participate in the Fly-in (see list below). Additional information about the Fly-in will be posted at www.teaming.com as it becomes available. We hope to see you in DC for this important event.

Co-sponsored by the Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals (ITEP) and the National Tribal Air Association (NTAA) in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
There will be both plenary and breakout sessions. Proposals for presentations in the areas of Ambient Air Quality, Indoor Air Quality and Climate Change are encouraged. Tribal leaders, environmental staff, scientists, policy developers, and representatives from tribal colleges, universities, federal, state, and local agencies, and other interested parties involved in research or projects that pertain to air quality or climate change are invited to submit an abstract of their presentation.

*Seeking Native American Students for 2012 Summer Internships
DOE's Tribal Energy Program is seeking current college upper-classmen and graduate students for summer 2012 internships. Students must be U.S. citizens and Native Americans (defined as a member of a federally recognized tribe, Alaska Village, or Alaska Corporation) with specific interest in renewable energy.

Youth clubs and organizations -- The Junior Duck Stamp Conservation and Design Program incorporates waterfowl biology, wildlife management principles and visual arts to provide students in kindergarten through high school the opportunity to explore wildlife through the arts. Students may participate through public, private and homeschools or through non-formal youth education groups.
