Grizzly Bear Recovery in the Bitterroot Ecosystem

Draft Environmental Impact Statement

This errata sheet clarifies/corrects the following information in the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) and the Summary of the DEIS.

1. Clarification: Public comments are being requested on two draft documents:

A. Draft Environmental Impact Statement on Grizzly Bear Recovery in the Bitterroot Ecosystem.

B. Endangered Species Act, Proposed Special Rule 10(j), Establishment of a Nonessential Experimental Population of Grizzly Bears in the Bitterroot Area of Idaho and Montana (published in the Federal Register July 1, 1997, and included as Appendix 13 in the DEIS.)

2. Correction: The official comment period has been extended for the Draft Environmental Impact Statement on Grizzly Bear Recovery in the Bitterroot Ecosystem, and the Proposed Special Rule 10(j), Establishment of a Nonessential Experimental Population of Grizzly Bears in the Bitterroot Area of Idaho and Montana. The official comment period for both documents is July 11, 1997 through December 1, 1997.

** Comments must be postmarked no later than December 1, 1997. **

3. Correction: The public meetings/hearings on Grizzly Bear Recovery in the Bitterroot Ecosystem were postponed from the original dates in late August until early October, and one location was added. All hearings were held from 4-8 PM at the following locations:

Wednesday, October 1, 1997: Challis, Idaho and Hamilton, Montana

Thursday, October 2, 1997: Missoula, Montana and Lewiston, Idaho

Friday, October 3, 1997: Boise, Idaho and Helena, Montana

Wednesday, October 8, 1997: Salmon, Idaho
