Bald Eagle Shot Near Ravinia, South Dakota
– Reward Offered -

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks Department are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for the shooting of an adult bald eagle two miles south and one-half mile west of Ravinia, South Dakota, in Charles Mix County.  The eagle was shot and wounded prior to December 18, 2010.

The eagle has been transported to a veterinarian and will require surgery to repair a broken wing.

Bald eagles are protected by both federal and state law.  Bald eagles are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act.
