FLINT HILLS NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE ANNOUNCES CROP SHARE OPPORTUNITIES NEAR HARTFORD, KANSAS
Flint Hills National Wildlife Refuge today announced crop share opportunities to interested members of the public. The refuge has 1,446 acres of farm ground near Hartford, Kansas available, and will be offered in 5 Farming Units through Cooperative Agreements. Contracts will be awarded by competitive bid (percent government share).
The refuge will open the sealed bid packages on January 28, 2009, to award contracts to interested participants. Please contact refuge headquarters at (620) 392-5553 for information about the drawing or to obtain a bid package.
Flint Hills NWR is a unit of the National Wildlife Refuge System, the nation’s premier network of lands managed for fish and wildlife conservation. Many units in the system, including Flint Hills, work closely with local agricultural producers to provide crop share opportunities that also benefit wildlife, particularly migratory birds.
