REWARD FUND MOUNTS FOR INFORMATION REGARDING SOW & CUB GRIZZLY BEARS ILLEGALLY KILLED IN ISLAND PARK, IDAHO
Wildlife advocacy groups joined forces to pledge $7,500 toward a reward for the information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the killing of a female grizzly bear and her cub in the Island Park area of Idaho.
According to Chris Servheen, Grizzly Bear Recovery Coordinator for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, "Defenders of Wildlife, Greater Yellowstone Coalition, Idaho Conservation League, Eastern Idaho Group of the Sierra Club, as well as a private citizen have all pitched in to create this reward to help in the investigation of the recent killing of the two grizzly bears." The U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service is the agency in charge of the actual investigation because of the grizzly bears status as a federally threatened species. The Idaho Department of Fish & Game (IDFG) and the USDA-Forest Service are assisting where possible.
Individuals with any information about this incident should call IDFGs Citizens Against Poaching (CAP) Hotline at 1-800-632-5999. Callers can remain anonymous and still be eligible for the refund.
