In Wyoming, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service manages two National Fish Hatcheries, Jackson National Fish Hatchery and Saratoga National Fish Hatchery. Jackson National Fish Hatchery raises the native Snake River strain of cutthroat trout and lake trout for distribution to various lakes and streams in Northwest Wyoming and Eastern Idaho; including the Fort Hall Indian Reservation and the Wind River Indian Reservation. Saratoga National Fish Hatchery primarily serves as a broodstock facility for lake trout and brown trout species and is involved in rearing the endangered Wyoming toad. Saratoga NFH is the primary broodstock facility for lake trout restoration in the Great Lakes Region of the United States. Together, over 9 million broodstock eggs are reared and distributed for further rearing, supporting the multi-million dollar recreational fishing industry.
