The Mountain-Prairie Region External Affairs office is located in Lakewood, Colorado. External Affairs staff provide support to the regional office and field stations to communicate and facilitate information about the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's programs to the public, media, Congress, Native American leadership, partners, and other stakeholders in the eight-state region (CO, KS, NE, UT, WY, MT, ND, SD).

Legislative Affairs

Our Legislative Affairs Specialist serves as the liaison between the Service, Congress and other political entities in the region. He monitors legislative and policy issues at local, state and Congressional levels, maintains communication with state and district Congressional offices in the region, coordinates Congressional outreach activities with field stations, provides policy analysis and recommendations to the Regional Directorate, and serves as the regional point-of-contact for the Service's Washington Office of Congressional and Legislative Affairs.

Public Affairs

Our Public Affairs Specialists identify and communicate Service issues of public interest and concern.
