Three groups are
still underrepresented in the Federal workforce: persons with
disabilities, Hispanics, and women. OPM is leading special efforts to
remedy the underrepresentation of these groups.

Opportunities for People with Disabilities.
The unemployment rate of working-age
adults with severe disabilities has remained at around 70 percent for
several years. This site describes the steps involved in seeking a
Federal job and the accessible formats in which employment information
is available. The USAJOBS web site has employment information available
in text format for the visually impaired.

Hispanics
Hispanic
Employment Program (HEP): The Hispanic Employment
Program's overall objective is to ensure that Hispanics have an equal
opportunity to compete fairly in all aspects of Federal employment,
i.e., recruitment, training, upward mobility, career counseling,
developmental details, promotions, and any other condition of
employment. The HEP is a subcommittee of the Denver Federal Executive
Board (DFEB).
Hispanic
Employment Initiatives.
Hispanics are the only minority group that is still underrepresented in
the Federal workforce. Executive Order 13171 addresses the issue
governmentwide, creates an Interagency Task Force at senior political
levels, and mandates annual reports to the President.
The first annual
Report on Hispanic Employment in the Federal Government was issued
October 12, 2001.
