The Affirmative Employment Program (AEP) is a legal requirement which mandates agencies to make good faith efforts to recruit, employ, train, promote and retain members of underrepresented, targeted groups, and to identify and remove barriers that impede employment opportunities.
Affirmative Action is a tool to achieve equal employment opportunity (EEO). A program of self-analysis, problem identification, data collection, policy statements, reporting systems, and elimination of discriminatory policies and practices, past and present. Such a program does not contemplate and shall not include any preferential treatment of any person on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age or disability. Affirmative actions should be based on a compelling organizational need and be narrowly tailored to achieve specific diversity goals.
