Friends
of the Modoc National Wildlife Refuge is a non-profit organization dedicated
to the enhancementof the refuge as a community asset. The Friends meet
monthly at the refuge, please call 233- 3572 for scheduled dates.
New visitor
center at the Refuge, browse the exhibits, see a variety of nature collections,
and mounted wildlife. Complimentary brochures, posters and leaflets regarding
the refuge system. NEW KIDS CORNER! Hands on activities for the young
at heart! Current education display is" Cranes & Eggs" February
is the beginning of the cranes return. Learn about crane behavior, and
all their activities while on the refuge. See the display of different
species of eggs, big ones, little ones and some in between. How about
a Great Horned Owl egg or a Avocet egg?. "New", view the show
case of items and products made from endangered animals taken from illegal
animal smuggling trade.
NEW: Birding Kits & Binoculars: We have added
something new for all that like to view wildlife. BIRDING KITS & BINOCULARS!
Day use of the birding kits or binoculars are available at the refuge.
Kits include, binoculars, Birds of Northern California identification
book, Guide to Creek Birds of California, and additional birding brochures.
Bioculars are also available to check-out for day use on the refuge. Have
a group who wants to view wildlife, need binoculars? The refuge has additional
binoculars for small group use. Take a walk, enjoy the cool crisp air,
take a ride, and bring a friend, check-out a pair of binoculars or a birding
kit and enjoy the outdoor beauty and view wildlife on the refuge!

observation blind on the newly completed ADA accessible trail at Wigeon
pond. Meet at the Wigeon Pond parking area.
