Instructions for 2012 Opening Weekend of Waterfowl Hunting Season
Important Information Regarding This Controlled Hunt at Modoc National
Wildlife Refuge
We are now using a new waterfowl application form. Please pay careful attention to the procedures outlined below.
In order to hunt Modoc National Wildlife
Refuge during the first two days of the 2012 hunting season, you must apply
to hunt and be drawn in the lottery. The number of hunters to be drawn will
be determined at the time of the lottery due to habitat conditions on the refuge,
but will NOT EXCEED 132 hunters.
- Complete one Waterfowl Lottery Application for each adult member of your party. Staple all applications together with the party leaders application on top. Applications that are incomplete, illegible,
duplicated or do not include the total application fee will be rejected.
- A $3.00 non-refundable application
fee must be submitted for each applicant, four applications per hunt party.
Make the money order or check (NO cash please) payable to the: U.S.
Fish & Wildlife Service.
- Hunters may submitt ONE
application only and may NOT apply for the Modoc Refuge hunt
if they also apply for opening weekend hunts at Tule Lake or Lower Klamath
National Wildlife Refuges.
- America the Beautiful, Golden
Age or Golden Access Passport Applicants: to receive reduced permit fees you
must provide proof at time of successful draw and payment
of permit fees. No refunds will be made if this information is not provided.
- Up to two Junior hunters (15 years
or younger) may accompany parties with permits. Do NOT list
Junior hunters on this application. They will not be charged a fee, but must
be accompanied by a permit holder over 18 and carry a junior license while
hunting. Juniors count as part of th 4 person limit for the Spaced Blinds and Grandma Tract Assigned Hunt Units.
- If you are interested in applying
to the drawing for one of the five Assigned Hunt Units available on the Grandma Tract, please use question #6 "Special Hunt" to write in Assigned Hunt Units and then use question #5 "Hunt Location Choices" to indicate your order of preference for the five units (2, 4, 6, 8, 10).
The Assigned Hunt Units are limited to a maximum of 4 persons (this includes junior hunters). If you are selected, you
will only be allowed to hunt at your assigned unit for the entire weekend.
- If you are interested in applying
to the drawing for one of the three Universally Accessible (ADA) Blinds available, please use question #6 "Special Hunt" to write in ADA Blinds and then use question #5 "Hunt Location Choices" to indicate your order of preference for the three blinds (1, 2, 3).
To be eligible, at least one person in your party MUST have a state
issued handicapped placard in his/her vehicle. The ADA Blind can only accomodate
a total of 4 persons (this incudes junior hunters). There will
be a drawing of successful applicants to determine whom the blinds will be
occupied by. If you are selected, you
will only be allowed to hunt at your assigned ADA Blind for the entire weekend.
