The District is managed by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, an agency of the Department of the Interior. Our mission is, working with others, to conserve, protect and enhance fish, wildlife, and plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people.

Windom Wetland Management District is a proud part of the National Wildlife Refuge System, which consists of 545 refuges. The system encompasses 96 million acres nationwide and is considered the world's most important network of lands dedicated to wildlife. In 2003, the National Wildlife Refuge System reached its 100th birthday.
