District Programs

• Habitat management consists of enhancing Waterfowl Production Areas to provide for nesting and migrating waterfowl.

• In addition, wetland and grassland easements protect more than 2,000 acres on private land.

• The District manages the Touch the Sky Prairie Unit of the Northern Tallgrass Prairie Refuge.

• Previously drained areas and/or croplands are restored to wetlands and planted to native prairie grasses and wildflowers on private lands via the Partners for Fish and Wildlife program.

Habitat restoration is accomplished with the help of many partners.
