Whittlesey Creek National Wildlife Refuge
Midwest Region
Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center

Everyone enjoys a good story and the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center is a major regional attraction for bringing the area stories alive.

Their NGLVC staff can help you find much more than just terrain. Be a part of the history; retrace routes of the native peoples, old voyageurs, immigrants, or the fur traders' far flung travels along our rivers and lakes.

Spectacular exhibits tell stories reminiscent of the culture of the Lake Superior Region - the lore, jokes, riddles, music, and more!

Northern Great Lakes Vicitor Center

The Whittlesey Creek National Wildlife Refuge’s headquarters are housed within the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center near Ashland Wisconsin. Refuge staff also assists the visitor center with education, outreach and hosting special events.

The refuge is literally next door to the visitor center.  A portion of the refuge now abuts visitor center’s property.  Together, the Whittlesey Creek National Wildlife Refuge and the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center offer an abundance of wildlife viewing opportunities and outdoor activities.
