The Friends of Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.

Mission

The mission of the Friends is to support the Refuge and ensure it meets its mission as a refuge within the National Wildlfie Refuge System. We will compliment the Refuge staff and work to enhance and promote public awareness and participation of the Refuge's purpose. We will work towards this cause on a local, regional, and national basis, in harmony with the Refuge's mission.

Friends Board of Directors

The Friends is operated by a Board of Directors. Following are the current Board of Directors for the Friends of Swan Lake NWR:

Membership

The Friends average 200 members that help support their efforts financially and through volunteering. The Friends volunteer their time to run the organization, fundraise, publish a newsletter, and assist the refuge with events.

Friends Store

The Friends of Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge operates a store in the Visitor Center. The Freinds Store has books, shirts, hats, and other Swan Lake memorabilia available for sale. Friends members recieve a 30-40% discount when purchasing merchandise in the Freinds Store.

Projects

The Friends have assisted the refuge with reopening the viewing tower to the public and the construction of an over look on the Swan Lake impoundment. They are currently working with the refuge on constructing and Amphitheater by the refuge Headquarters.
