Winterfest

February 5, 2011
10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

You are invited to join us for our annual Winterfest celebration, scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This event includes free activities that focus on how wildlife and people survive, and even enjoy, Minnesota's snowy, cold months. New this year is a Nature Photography workshop held at refuge headquarters - reservations a must! Try out our snowshoes, or bring your own cross-country skis for interpreter-led trips. In the main tent area, enjoy nature crafts, a wildlife expo, food, sleigh rides, a bonfire and presentations featuring live birds. Find out what a quinzhee is and learn survival techniques. A brat and hot dog lunch will be available for purchase from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Bid on items at the Friend's silent auction - funds generated support refuge projects. Visit the Friends Gift Shop located at refuge headquarters. Some children's items will be available for cash sale at the main tent area as well. For detailed information on event activities check our Activity Flyer created in PDF format.

All activities begin south of the Old School House site, off Sherburne County Road 9, 5.5 miles west of Highway 169 or 2 miles east of County Road 5. Watch for signs! Winterfest is co-sponsored by the Refuge and the Friends of Sherburne.

For further information, or if special accommodations are needed, contact the Refuge office at 763-389-3323 ext. 13.
