Nearly 300 participants attended the "Ohio Invasive Plant Research Conference: Bridging the Gap Between Land Management and Research" on March 5, 2004 in Columbus Ohio. This was the first conference of its kind in Ohio. The planning committee, led by the Reynoldsburg Ohio Field Office, was comprised of biologists and land managers from universities and agencies throughout the state. The purpose of the conference was to provide a forum where scientists and land managers could discuss research and issues concerning the ecology and management of invasive plants. The day-long conference included eight invited speakers and 21 poster presentations. The keynote address, delivered by Dr. Bernd Blossey of Cornell University highlighted evidence of negative ecological impacts of invasive plants on native amphibian development. A peer-reviewed conference proceedings is being published through The Ohio State University. The proceedings will contain refereed papers from the speakers and extended abstracts from the poster presenters.
