This year the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Reynoldsburg, Ohio Field Office increased its participation with the International Migratory Bird Day (IMBD) activities at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. Sarena Selbo and Ken Lammers staffed the Service table, as well as volunteers Ken and Sal Multerer. We provided an assortment of brochures for adults and had IMBD stickers and a "bug" stamp for kids' IMBD "passport." We also provided the Zoo with a supply of IMBD posters and several kinds of bird stickers.

Despite severe competition from a baby elephant, gorilla, and manatee at the Zoo, a significant portion of the 15,740 attendees came into the IMBD pavilion to participate in the many activities set up and staffed by dozens of volunteers and Zoo staff. As in past years, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium has expanded its celebration of IMBD to two days, Friday and Saturday. Ken Lammers returned on Saturday and found the attendee participation more manageable than on Friday, when the Zoo is deluged with school groups. In this year's IMBD theme, colony bird conservation, one new activity was "Puttin' for Puffins" where contributions were donated to Puffin conservation programs.
