Surveys and Maps Branch
The Branch of Surveys and Maps is responsible for all force account, contracted, and reimbursable surveying and mapping activities which support the Region's land acquisition program.
The Branch assists and advises on legal descriptions, as necessary, and provides technical expertise on all relevant boundary issues on Service lands.
Cartographic responsibilities include maintaining and updating status maps, producing special purpose maps as requested, drafting survey tract plats and tract maps in support of the land acquisition process, and converting hardcopy maps to electronic versions.

Responsibilities include staff/contract surveying and mapping assignments, monitoring/directing surveying and mapping process/production, surveying and mapping quality, contractor outreach and development, surveying and mapping training program, and COTR.

Performs boundary surveys throughout Region 3. Reviews boundary and Mean Sea Level surveys performed by the Fergus Falls field crew. Reviews descriptions and prepares exhibits for appraisers and realty specialists. Researches information requests. Prepares, administers, and reviews contract surveys.

Designs and produces cartographic and GIS products for the Division of Realty, including the Land Status Atlas, LWCF Briefing Book, MBCC maps, and special purpose maps for Field Offices, RO/External Affairs. NWRS/Realty mapping standards development. GIS/CAD technical assistance and training.
