Traveling Trunks

Education Trunks are made available free of charge to schools, educational facilities or groups, and teachers for a period of two weeks.

Name of Trunk   Topics
Suitcase for Survival   Wildlife trade, consumer education
Songbird Blues Trunk   Migratory birds
Tallgrass Prairie Discovery Trunk   Prairie
All About Hunting Deer Trunk   Deer hunting
Shorebirds Trunk   Shorebirds
Growing Native Trunk   Native prairie restoration
Invasive Species   Controlling invasive plants

Each trunk includes relevant posters, books, activity guides, and videos. Each trunk also has something unique, like a felt storyboard, costume, specimens, or special props. They also include action projects that make a difference AND MUCH MORE!

You may use the trunks at your site or at the PWLC, but their use is self-guided. They make a perfect extension to many of the indoor and outdoor programs conducted at the PWLC. You may also use them to enrich an existing classroom unit or develop a new one.

All contents are property of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service/Prairie Wetlands Learning Center. Contact the PWLC in advance by phone or email for a reservation and appointments. PWLC staff will need to know the date and time you would like to check out the trunk and the date and time you would like to check it in. During both appointments, you will go through the inventory with an employee to ensure that everything is in the trunk. Sorry, no shipping available.

There is no fee to use the trunks unless a trunk comes back with items missing; then we charge the replacement cost to you at that time. Sorry, no billing, so bring your Visa/MasterCard with you, just to be on the safe side.
