Marsh Monitoring Program - March 10 from 9 am - 2 pm. The Marsh Monitoring Program (MMP) is a unique and rewarding program for enthusiastic volunteers to survey wetlands for both amphibians and marsh birds. Volunteers contribute toward understanding and conservation of wetlands within the Great Lakes Basin. Surveys are exciting and no prior skills are necessary. If you are interested in volunteering or just want to learn more about the program, please join us anytime. A MMP regional biologist will be on hand to answer all of your questions.

There are many opportunities to volunteer at the Ottawa NWR. Currently volunteers assist the refuge by mowing, operating equipment, working in the office, operating the bookstore, assisting visitors and a variety of other projects throughout the year.

More information about volunteering with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service can be found at www.volunteer.gov. You can also contact the Refuge Volunteer Coordinator, Rebecca Hinkle at 419-898-0014, ext. 17.

To become involved with our refuge friends group, the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge Association visit their website or call 419-898-0014, ext. 13.
