Environmental Contaminants Projects

Projects involving environmental quality staff from the Ohio Field Office include:
  • Ashtabula River Natural Resource Damage Assessment(NRDA)

    We are working with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the United States Geological Survey to assess the natural resource damages caused by unregulated releases of hazardous substances to the Ashtabula River, and determine appropriate compensation due for injury to these resources.

  • Fields Brook Restoration Plan

    In conjunction with OEPA and NOAA, we have developed a restoration plan to replace ecological values lost because of hazardous substance releases at the Fields Brook Superfund Site. The Restoration Plan was reviewed by the public last spring and finalized in September. A copy of the Plan can be downloaded at midwest.fws.gov/NEPA. Restoration projects are currently being reviewed for implementation.

  • Ohio Water Quality Standards

    We are working with the United States Environmental Protection Agency, and OEPA to insure that Ohio's water quality standards are protective of endangered mussel species.
